The only thing needed to defeat Trump is a free and fair election. He has never gotten a majority of votes cast in any previous election and there's no reason to think he's gained any votes since. As for "get rid of Trump", he is doing a great job of that without anyone else's help.

You don't actually understand the origin or the purpose of the Electoral College, but that's no surprise to anyone.
The Electoral College is not perfect, but it works most of the time. It's a system means that some people's votes count more than other people. The party that knows they are in the minority hope against hope that a losing election may lead to an Electoral victory. Sometimes it happens, but they are still a minority and in the present case, a minority that continues to shrink.
